2011 sees 80 years since James Whale directed Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff. To celebrate, 42, an open mic night, held a special event and we provided a video backdrop for atmosphere while various writers read stories out to a captive audience. Last week, I posted the photos, so here is the video
The event was held at the Lunar Bar in Worcester on 30th November 2011.
On the 30th November, 42 hosted an open mic night for stories around Frankenstein. It was to celebrate 80 years since the James Whale film, featuring Boris Karloff as the monster.
We went and provided a video backdrop to add some atmosphere. We played trailers, film posters and a series of curious facts around the many films of Frankenstein. There were about eight stories and poems read out, all hosted by John Taylor, who has now taken over running 42 in Worcester.
There was a small crowd, but each writing was well received and our backdrop provided some eye candy as people gazed in imagination while listening to the stories. We’ll be looking to help out again in future events.
42 November - Frankenstein
‘42’ is Worcester’s first and only Gothic, Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy open mic night. This is a unique opportunity for budding scribes and writers with a passion for these genres, to make their voices heard!

On 30th November, 42 is holding an event to celebrate 80 years of Frankenstein and we really pleased to be involved. We will be running a montage of film and stills, hopefully providing some atmospheric backdrops to the writers and their stories.
The event will be held at the Lunar Bar in Worcester (directions) and hope you can make it. If you do, please say hi, will be great to meet you!
